Since January 30, 2001, Colombia has been a member of the Hague Apostille Convention (Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Document). The purpose of the convention is to create a simplified method of “authenticating” documents for universal recognition. An apostille certifies the official who signed your documents (State official, County Clerk, Notary, etc…)
